Max Erwin is a freelance illustrator specializing in editorial, surface design and animation. Working primarily digitally, Max pushes the bounds of postmodern humor, using absurdity and wit to comment on the state of the world. Inspired by film, vintage comics and pop art, he uses incorporates texture and grain into his otherwise smooth designs to achieve an aesthetic that sits between crisp vector design and rough, hand drawn illustrations. He lives in Portland, ME with his wife Taylor and dog Ripley where he teaches illustration at the Maine College of Art and Design.
